3rd-8th Grade Spanish Teacher

¾ time position – Possible full time position with other responsibilities

Oak Grove School, a small pre-K through 12th grade progressive school in Ojai, California, is seeking an experienced 3rd-8th Grade Spanish Teacher, for a part-time position (27 hours per week), starting August 2025. Full time options are available depending on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Teach basic Spanish and Latin American culture to 3rd grade through 8th grade (6 sections). Each class meets 1- 2 times per week for approximately 60 minutes per class.
  • Attend regular staff meetings, professional development in-services, training, and special events. 
  • Support students with conflict resolution and social-emotional growth and development.
  • Supervise interstitial spaces during breaks and lunch times. 
  • Participate in school events and our outdoor education program.

Qualities

  • Familiarity with the philosophy of the school (among other things, an inquiry-based approach to education in a non-competitive atmosphere) and an understanding of progressive education. 
  • Familiarity with growth mindset, Responsive Classroom, project-based learning, anti-bias education, and authentic assessment.
  • Self-motivated, self-disciplined, professional, and energetic.
  • Highly organized and able to clearly plan and map curricula and to articulate student expectations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to differentiate in the classroom.
  • Active enjoyment of the outdoors. 
  • Ability to work as part of a close-knit team.

Qualifications

  • BA and/or MA degree
  • Multi-subject Teaching Credential preferred and/or MA in Education/single subject Spanish 
  • Fluency in Spanish with teaching experience
  • 3 years of teaching experience at the Elementary and/or Middle School levels.

Compensation

27-40 hours/week at $44K-71K per year depending on experience and qualifications.
