Café Con Bagel in Washington, DC is looking for one barista/cashier to join our 14-person strong team. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter, ambitious, and reliable.
Duties:
- Provide exceptional customer service by greeting and assisting customers in a friendly and efficient manner.
- Take customer orders accurately and efficiently using the Clover POS system.
- Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea, and specialty drinks.
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the coffee bar area.
- Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Handle cash transactions and operate cash registers with accuracy.
- Maintain knowledge of menu items, ingredients, and preparation methods.
- Assist with food preparation, such as making sandwiches or pastries.
- Upsell additional products or add-ons to increase sales.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in customer service or a similar role is preferred.
- Basic math skills for cash handling and calculating change accurately.
- Familiarity with Clover POS or similar point-of-sale systems is a plus.
- Knowledge of retail math for calculating discounts or promotions is beneficial.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with customers and team members.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
