Building Services Worker - Physical Plant Hiring Department The University of Texas Permian Basin's Physical Plant department welcome applications for a Building Services Worker II position
Salary Range $35,000.00 depending on qualifications
Essential Functions The Building Services Worker function is to assist the Building Services Supervisor in university events coordination including set-up and tear down of events and office and furniture moves on campus. The position may be required to assist with all phases of event setup including but not limited to furniture spacing, furniture moving and storage, AV setup, and adjustment as needed.
1. Performs tasks associated with event set-up and tear down.
2. Works with supervisor to complete Schooldude and Ad Astra event setups.
3. Receive, perform, and complete work orders pertaining to a variety of routine, semi-skilled office moves and event setup
4. Must maintain quality customer service approach when interacting with multiple departments
5. Delivers supplies and moves furniture as needed
6. Setup tables, chairs, bleachers, pop up banners, AV equipment, and other items for university events
7. Will be responsible for the moving of furniture on campus, small assembly may be required
8. Loading and hauling of vehicles for furniture moves
9. Forklift operation and occasional trailer hauling
10. Complies with all State and University policies
Required Qualifications 1. High School Diploma or GED equivalency
2. One (1) year experience in general maintenance or combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired and one (1) year of customer service experience
3. Possess good organizational skills and able to communicate effectively and professionally
4. Possess a clean and valid Texas driver's license for at least three (3) years
5. Possesses dexterity, lifting capacity (up to 50lbs), and ability to walk up to 100% of the time in accordance with job demands.
6. Basic proficiency with mathematical computations
7. Basic ability to read floor plans
8. Ability to follow safety precautions. Job may entail moderate exposure to chemical, environmental, and various other hazards that require strict adherence to procedures
Preferred Qualifications 1. Three years' work experience in general maintenance
2. One year experience in forklift operation
3. Combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired
4. 2 years of customer service experience

Schedule Generally, the normal work hours for the university are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 - 5:30 pm; Friday, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm with a one-hour lunch. The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department. Hours worked may differ with some departments.
Standard Working Conditions 1. Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
2. Able to bend, crouch, and reach continuously.
3. Physically able remain seated, frequently to continuously.
4. Able to remain standing up to 15% of the time.
5. Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform job duties including extensive keyboard work, operating office equipment, performing filing, and other job-related responsibilities that include extensive wrist and hand movement.
