Job Description

The Business Analyst position will provide qualitative and quantitative analysis to support the North America Accident & Health business in identifying value drivers and formulating action plans to improve growth, profitability, and customer experience.

The role will require interaction with multiple business functions (sales, marketing, finance, claims, operations, actuarial, and underwriting) to deliver data-driven analysis to better understand key performance indicators that identify favorable and unfavorable factors and trends that may impact the business. The analyst must be able to analyze large amounts of data across multiple sources and be able to effectively communicate findings.

The candidate will also provide support for the development of new/improved KPI (Key Performance Indicator) metrics, management reporting, portfolio reviews, database content analysis, automation of reporting and dashboards, as well as other ad-hoc analysis.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Access, organize, and analyze large amounts of data across multiple sources and databases
  • Identify key drivers of premium production and claims performance
  • Develop and report on Key Performance Indicators
  • Explain variances from expectations, trends, and anomalies
  • Assist with data audits, financial projections, budgeting, and other ad-hoc reporting and analysis
  • Produce management and business review reports
  • Create, manage, and maintain dashboards utilized by various internal and external stakeholders
  • Leverage data visualization to effectively communicate findings in a clear, concise format to drive strategic direction
  • Create and improve existing analytical tools to solve business questions

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience in an analytics/developer type of role
  • Strong SQL skills, proficient with database concepts and ability to write queries and navigate databases
  • Experience and proficiency with MS Excel and Tableau
  • Proficiency with VBA, Power BI, and VB.net highly preferred
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills. Ability to identify, understand, and communicate key business drivers
  • Ability to optimize and creating efficiency using technology
