Job Title: Live-In Caregiver/Companion

Location: Inlet Beach, Florida (Panhandle area)

Salary: $30/hour

Job Type: Full-time, Live-in

Job Description:

We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and experienced Live-In Caregiver/Companion for an 80-year-old woman in the late stages of dementia. Our loved one requires assistance with all activities of daily living and needs someone who can provide attentive care and engaging companionship to enhance her quality of life.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with all activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.
• Provide medication reminders and ensure medications are taken as prescribed.
• Assist with mobility and transferring (the client is 145 lbs and 5'6").
• Engage in activities that stimulate the mind and body, encouraging her to stay active and avoid excessive sleeping.
• Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding as needed.
• Perform light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe living environment.
• Accompany the client on walks or outings to promote physical activity and provide a change of scenery.
• Monitor and report any changes in health or behavior to the family or healthcare professionals.
• Provide companionship and emotional support, fostering a positive and nurturing environment.
• Ensure the client’s safety and well-being at all times.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a caregiver, particularly with elderly clients and those with dementia.
• Ability to handle physical aspects of caregiving, including lifting and supporting a 145 lb client.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to improve the quality of life for the client.
• Strong communication skills, especially in understanding and responding to non-verbal cues.
• Ability to engage the client in activities and conversations that stimulate mental and physical activity.
• Flexibility and adaptability to manage downtime effectively while remaining alert and attentive to the client's needs.
• Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.
