Barrick is seeking a skilled Category Manager to join our Global Supply Chain team in Henderson, Nevada. This role may involve travel to various domestic and international sites. The Category Manager will be responsible for implementing, continuously improving, and executing Barrick's sourcing and contracting strategy across designated product and service categories. Key duties include fostering strong relationships with internal stakeholders and strategic suppliers, conducting spend analysis across the organization, and providing value-driven recommendations to achieve cost savings. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Contract Management:
Oversee supply contracts, pricing, and vendor performance for mining commodities, including explosives, tires, fuels, lubricants, drilling, and OEM equipment related to Barrick's mining operations.
Proactive Identification:
Identify and address any gaps or breaches in contract commitments and terms proactively.
Price Management:
Ensure effective execution of price management strategies.
Market Analysis:
Monitor category-related market indices to identify trends and changes affecting mine site activities and budgeted expenditures. Develop strategies to maximize cost reduction opportunities and minimize supply disruptions.
Strategic Sourcing:
Set sourcing goals and strategies aligned with corporate objectives and site commitments.
KPI Management:
Manage contract requirements and KPIs with internal stakeholders, while identifying and developing suppliers to meet commercial and operational needs.
Sourcing Methodologies:
Implement strategic sourcing methodologies to support category strategy development, including benchmark analysis and contract negotiation techniques.
Supplier Relationship Management:
Execute supplier relationship management by tracking performance metrics, safety reporting, stakeholder satisfaction, and innovation in products and technology.
Bid Preparation and Evaluation:
Ensure timely and professional service in preparing and evaluating bids, negotiating with suppliers, recommending management decisions, preparing contract documentation, and managing contract closeouts, including RFI and RFP processes.
Team Development:
Mentor and develop the skills of indirect reports, acting as a champion for resources within the supply chain organization.
Safety Compliance:
Adhere to current Mining Safety and Health regulations and Barrick’s Loss Prevention procedures.
Social Responsibility:
Demonstrate commitment to Barrick’s Social Responsibility Policy and engage in socially responsible behavior within the community and company.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience:
Six (6) to eight (8) years of relevant procurement experience or a combination of education and experience. Mining experience is preferred, along with relevant category experience.
Technical Skills:
Strong proficiency in office software such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio. Familiarity with enterprise-level software packages like Oracle, SAP, or Ellipse is essential.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
Communication Skills:
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Relocation:
Willingness to relocate to Henderson, NV.
