Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The CDL Operations Manager is responsible for the efficient, safe, and compliant operation of the CDL Road Test facility and staff. This includes maintaining facility and vehicle records and documentation, compliance with any state and federal testing regulations or agreements, and verifying the integrity of CDL testing. Other responsibilities include supporting facility operations through the efficient processing of testing results, seeking out and interviewing potential examiner staff, and facilitating organization expansion through assisting in acquiring additional testing locations.

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

  • Ensures Test Site facility is compliant with record maintenance obligations
  • Audits exams to identify and remediate deficiencies in testing practices
  • Participates in the disciplinary process of testing site staff
  • Coordinates with examiner staff to determine availability
  • Conducts regular inspections of Commercial Motor Vehicles
  • Inputs CDL Test results using CSTIMS 
  • Participates in the hiring and selection process within the testing department
  • Participates in scouting and administrative process of creating additional locations
  • Manages student expectations and experiences
  • Other Duties as assigned

KEY COMPETENCIES

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to be successful in this role, but are not necessarily all inclusive.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of state and federal regulations governing CDL testing, including safety and record-keeping requirements.
  • Familiarity with the standards and requirements for Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMVs) used in testing.
  • Understanding of audit processes to ensure compliance with testing standards and identify deficiencies.
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Proficiency with google suite, CSTIMS, and Microsoft office

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Commercial Drivers License Class A required
  • Five or more years of CDL Operations or Driving experience required
  • Five or more years of supervisory and management experience required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to spend prolonged periods of time standing, speaking, walking, driving, writing, and/or sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift at least 15 pounds at a time
  • Perform work with OSHA required PPE; Including COVID19 PPE
