Job Description

Bluegrass Specialty Surgery Center is hiring a full-time Circulator Registered Nurse for our surgical services department in Lexington, Ky. 

The Circulator Registered Nurse (RN) is an integral part of the perioperative team and serves as an advocate for patients who are undergoing anesthesia and/or sedation. As an Operating Room Nurse, you will be responsible for managing nursing care within the OR through observing the surgical team from a broad perspective and assisting the team in creating and maintaining a safe, comfortable environment. The Circulator Registered Nurse's responsibilities include but are not limited to, coordinating complete nursing assessments and care for patients and participates in patient and family teaching for assigned patients within the Operating Room.

Job Requirements: 

• Education requirement:   
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Kentucky RN License
• C ertification requirements: 
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required
  • PALS preferred
• Participates as a team member in support of the total perioperative process
• Organizes time, equipment, supplies, and personnel to provide effective and efficient case management
• Supervises and directs patient care in a single operating room as well as two local procedure rooms.
• Organizes nursing activities efficiently, considering staff abilities when delegating activities
• Delegates activities appropriate to the abilities of available staff members
• Considers cost containment by using supplies economically and in effective turnover time
• Assists with supply, drug and equipment inventories to maintain stock level and availability 
• Addresses patient needs during admission to the operating room, with attention to requirements specific to the ASC setting
• Transports patients to the operating room observing policies/procedures, safety requirements, and patient needs
• Identifies the patient and correct surgical intervention according to policy/procedure and communicates such information to all members of the surgical team
• Reviews patient's medical records/needs to plan care with other healthcare team members 
• Multiple other duties as assigned
