Job Description

When you join Verizon

At Verizon, we power and empower how people live, work and play by connecting them to what brings them joy. We do what we love — driving innovation, creativity, and impact in the world. Our V Team is a community of people who anticipate, lead, and believe that listening is where learning begins. In crisis and in celebration, we come together — lifting our communities and building trust in how we show up, everywhere & always. Want in? Join the #VTeamLife.

By joining Verizon as a leader in the Corporate Communications organization, you will have the opportunity to craft and drive the narrative that highlights our commitment to innovation, a differentiated customer experience, and a connected future.  You will oversee strategic planning and operational excellence, ensuring our storytelling and initiatives align with our organizational goals and resonates with key stakeholders.

What you'll be doing:

  • Developing, advising, and implementing strategic long-term and short-term communication plans that align with Verizon’s priorities and drive objectives.

  • Managing large-scale budgets, ensuring optimal allocation of resources and maximizing value.

  • Providing accurate forecasting and making strategic recommendations for budget optimization.

  • Enhancing operational processes to ensure efficient execution of communication strategies.

  • Identifying KPIs and utilizing metrics system to measure effectiveness; analyzing, informing, and optimizing our go-to-market communication strategies.

  • Working with internal teams to ensure cohesive and integrated communications efforts.

  • Leading and managing projects, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with strategic goals.

  • Collaborating cross-functionally to address the needs of key stakeholders, including investors, customers, employees, and partners, ensuring these needs are reflected in both long-term and short-term strategic plans.

What we’re looking for:

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Eight or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.

  • Experience in corporate communications, public relations, and executive communications.

  • Experience in strategic planning and operations within a corporate communications environment.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Master's Degree in a related field.

  • Experience in the telecommunications and/or technology sector.

  • Expert in corporate communications, public relations, crisis management, and executive communications.

  • Strong analytical skills with a proven track record of leveraging data to drive strategic decisions.

  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with the willingness to influence at all organizational levels.

  • Proven success in managing multiple projects and delivering results with a focus on ROI.

  • Outstanding writing, editing, deck development, and verbal communication skills.

  • Willingness to adapt quickly to changing priorities and respond with urgency.

  • Willingness to take the pen, not just manage the work even though they have had leadership positions in the past.

  • Experience working in a global, matrixed organization, as well as experience in developing strategy plans, overseeing measurement and analytics for communications initiatives and managing large scale budgets.

  • A strong command of key industry issues and trends shaping the technology sector.

  • Proven track record of acting as a trusted, strategic counselor to senior leaders with the willingness to drive influence.

If Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every “even better” qualification listed above.
