Requirements for a Corporate Director of Communications :
- Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in communications, marketing, and/or social engagement, preferably in the non-profit sector or senior living industry.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives and messages for diverse audiences.
- Experience in media relations, crisis communication, and digital marketing.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to anticipate challenges and develop proactive solutions.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities for a Corporate Director of Communications :
- Strategic Communication Planning : Develop and execute a strategic communication plan aligned with the organization's goals and objectives, ensuring consistency in messaging across all channels.
- Media Relations: Cultivate and maintain relationships with local and national media outlets to generate positive coverage of UMC and its programs, events, and initiatives.
- Content Creation: Create compelling content for various communication channels including but not limited to website, social media, newsletters, press releases, and marketing materials.
- Digital Communication/Messaging: Collaborate with the organization on its digital communication efforts and social media engagement.
- Internal Communication: Review internal communication and provide recommendations to ensure and/or improve upon the effectiveness to keep teammates, volunteers, and board members informed about organizational developments, initiatives, and achievements.
- Community Engagement: Develop and implement strategies to engage with the local community, faith-based organizations, and other stakeholders to increase awareness of UMC and foster partnerships and collaborations.
- Crisis Communication: Serve as the primary spokesperson for UMC and develop protocols and strategies for managing communication during crisis situations or sensitive issues.
- Brand Management: Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all communication channels and oversee the development and maintenance of brand guidelines.
- Evaluation and Reporting: Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communication efforts using metrics and analytics and prepare regular reports for senior leadership and the board of Corporate Directors.
