Job Title : Data Protection Specialist

Location : Onsite in New York, NY

Duration : 4+ Months (Potential for extension)

We are seeking a skilled Data Protection Specialist with extensive experience in Avamar 19.8 & later, Data Domain 7.7 & later, and DPA 19.4 & later to join our team onsite in New York. The ideal candidate will be responsible for daily operations, system maintenance, and implementation of various data protection projects. This role requires strong troubleshooting abilities, familiarity with UNIX & PowerShell commands, and the ability to engage with support teams for hardware issues.

Must-Have Skills:

• Avamar 19.8 & later
• Data Domain 7.7 & later
• DPA 19.4 & later

Nice-to-Have Skills :

• Knowledge of Isilon, CloudIQ, Vcenter, NDMP, ServiceNow, Office 365, Networking, FTP.
• Scripting skills.
• Familiarity with UNIX & PowerShell commands.

Key Responsibilities :

Daily Operations/Implementation :

• Ensure all systems maintenance are running fine on ten Avamar servers and eleven Data Domains
• Monitor daily backup failures (VM Snapshot, NAS, DB2, Oracle, file system backups)
• Handle restore requests as needed by the customer
• Create DPA reports for the customer
• Verify LPR backups completion on both MDC/PSAC2
• Manage Computer Crimes NAS backup, ensuring current year completion and manually managing backups for older years
• Work with support for hardware issues such as disk or memory failures
• Provide support for Elastic Cloud troubleshooting, including updating certificates, disk replacements, and reporting
• Perform upgrades to Data Domain, Avamar, and DPA
• Monitor CloudIQ for DPS and resolve open issues
• Attend meetings with the customer to address backup-related issues
• Attend CAB (ServiceNow) meetings

Project Tasks:

• Manage Data Protection Capacity Expansion Project: Design, deploy, and migrate data across all arrays in the CC cluster
• Implement Avamar Virtualization Project: Design and reduce hardware, power, and maintenance costs across all data centers
• Execute DPS MDC Refresh Project: Implement latest data domains (DD9900s) and migrate/load balance data
• Execute DPS PSAC2 Refresh Project: Implement latest data domains (DD9900s) and migrate/load balance data
• Recall Data off PAQ ECS to PSAC2 Data Domain and migrate to balance across Core DD (almost complete)
• Collaborate with customer server, network, application, and security teams

Important Notes :

• The start date is contingent upon the completion of Dell and customer background checks, including fingerprinting
• The position requires the resource to be onsite for the entire duration of the assignment with no exceptions

Extension Potential :

• This residency has been renewed yearly for the last 4 years and is likely to be extended for another year (Sept 2024 to Aug 2025) for the right candidate
