Job Description

Our client is seeking a Director of Training and Development who is responsible for the leadership, management, and implementation of client’s Training and Development programs and resources. This role involves working closely with the client’s Executive Committee and its department heads to understand, create and deliver a holistic approach to training client’s-specific systems, processes, and client’s culture such that client delivers high-quality consistent service to its customers and all stakeholders. The Director of Training and Development is tasked with implementing and maintaining an approach to training and development that uses contemporary technologies and methods that result in a best-in-class learning experience that is effective and viewed by the industry as best practice. The objectives and responsibilities of this position will be accomplished via the leadership and management of direct staff, through personal hands-on efforts, and through the coaching, mentoring, and training of management and third-party educational resources.

Responsibilities
• To work closely with CLIENT’S’s Executive Committee to define and provide the required knowledge needed for existing and new people to function effectively with CLIENT’S’s systems, processes, and culture (i.e.: the CLIENT’S Way). This includes a rigorous approach to training on how CLIENT’S’s workflow (CLIENT’SPC) and financial systems (VISTA) are used, along with a variety of other subjects such as culture (CLIENT’S ethics, MPV, conflict management, dispute escalation/resolution, etc.), safety, ICS infrastructure, etc.;
• To keep CLIENT’S’s staff current with the body of knowledge that is required to function as a best-in-class leader in the niche markets that CLIENT’S pursues;
• To manage and further develop the intellectual infrastructure that supports the growth and development of the people in the CLIENT’S organization who are seeking to better themselves;
• To work with subject matter experts to create and/or update training collateral;
• To manage the system of documenting training and education that keeps our employees current with regulatory, client, and CLIENT’S-required education and continuing education requirements;
• To lead and manage CLIENT’S University to deliver training in a comprehensive manner that includes: web-based learning (CLIENT’S-U and other 3rd party sources); classroom and small group training; mentoring, coaching, and other forms of formal and informal learning;
• To work with CLIENT’S HR and CLIENT’S’s leadership collectively to understand, measure, and develop the intellectual capacity of its employees and the collective knowledge of the organization;
• To stay connected to the AEC industry to identify and stay current with new and evolving technologies, processes, and practices.
Minimum Qualifications
• BS degree in engineering, construction management or a related field;
• A Master's Degree in education;
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in developing and delivering training/education;
• A Project Management Institute – PMP Certification or similar professional credential;
• The ability to lead and manage a small staff and to collaboratively function with leadership and staff;
• A comprehensive knowledge of contemporary training and development tools and processes that includes the use and management of a web-based learning management system and asymmetric learning tools such as Scorm-compliant e-learning;
• The ability to work with subject matter experts to understand and develop and/or edit construction industry-related educational materials;
• The ability to evaluate company performance data to identify patterns in which training could minimize underperformance and address knowledge gaps;
• Strong writing and record-keeping skills;
• Knowledge of database management and software used throughout the construction industry.
