Mail Clerk Job Description

Job Title: Mail Clerk

Credentials: None required for this position.

Education: High school diploma or GED

Training or experience required: Must have a clean driving record. Training will be provided.

Site: Warehouse

Reports to: Warehouse Supervisor

Contract: 260 Days

Salary Schedule: Maintenance 2

FLSA Classification: Non-exempt

Essential Job Functions:
  • Primary responsibility is driving the District mail van and picking up mail from all district sites on a consistent route.
  • Sort incoming and outgoing mail efficiently.
  • Sort inter-school mail to each site's designated box or mailbag.
  • Operate mail room equipment, including folding, printing, inserting, and sealing envelopes for district sites.
  • Process USPS mail and deliver it to the post office at the end of each day.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills are essential for handling inquiries and providing technical assistance.
  • Ability to follow safety guidelines and policies to ensure a safe working environment for staff and students.
  • Must adhere to school dress code, attendance policies, and other work-related standards.
  • Creativity, initiative, and effective problem-solving skills are critical for success in this position.
  • Requires independent judgment and discretion due to the complexity of the job, with flexibility in choosing solutions to challenges.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to stand/walk for 4-5 hours per day and perform benchwork for approximately 1 hour per day.
Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs is required.
