Job Description:

Responsibilities

  • Produce components by assembling parts and subassemblies
  • Read and decipher schematics, blueprints, drawings, and assembly instructions
  • Position or align components and parts, either manually or with hoists
  • Use hand tools, power tools, or machines to assemble parts
  • Insulate containers and cabinets
  • Conduct quality control checks
  • Comply with and assist with the development of safety protocols
  • Clean and maintain work areas and equipment including tools
  • Prepare work to be accomplished by studying part lists and gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials
  • Position parts and subassemblies by using templates or reading measurements
  • Assemble components by examining connections for correct fit, fastening parts and subassemblies
  • Verify specifications by measuring completed components
  • Resolve assembly problems by altering dimensions to meet specifications; notifying supervisor to obtain additional resources
  • Keep equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and calling for repairs
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Maintain inventory by checking stock to determine supply levels, placing, and tracking orders, and verifying receipt of supplies
  • Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results
  • Document actions by completing production and quality forms
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements and skills

  • 1 years of experience as an electrical/mechanical assembler
  • minimum 2 or 3 year diploma in electrical technician, mechatronics or a related program
  • Exceptional understanding and ability to interpret technical documents such as diagrams, schematics, blueprints or other instructions
  • Solid understanding of all operating procedures
  • Able to use multimeter
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (standing for long periods of time, lifting heavy loads of up to 50 pounds etc.)
  • Good hand-eye coordination
  • Familiarity with power tools and machinery is a plus
  • Communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to safety rules
  • Apprenticeship or specialization is an asset, but not necessary
