Here's how you can help. We are currently looking for a  Eurafrican Department Manager to join our team and rise to the challenge of empowering service.

 

Position Highlights:
This position will serve as a liaison between Lions from Europe and other francophone areas and headquarters, including managing translation of publication, correspondence, and interpreting. This position will also provide club, district, and international officer support as noted below. This role will be responsible for managing department staff to ensure effective execution of their responsibilities and encourage their professional development.


What You’ll Do:

  • Manages department operations by developing schedules, assigning and monitoring translation and interpreting work, sourcing internal and external linguists, implementing productivity standards and resolving operational problems.
  • Ensures the provision of support to directors, trustees, and executive officers as well as other Lion leaders requiring language assistance.
  • Stays current on and communicates regional issues that may impact association policy compliance and messaging.
  • Ensures quality language support by establishing or recommending, following and enforcing organization standards related to language services.
  • Coordinates efforts with other department managers on cross-functional projects.
  • Assists French, German, Italian, Swedish, and Finnish-speaking members with issues related to other divisions/departments.
  • Provides resources or information to Lions members in the field regarding programs overseen by the District and Club Administration Division.
  • Develops annual department budget and manages expenses within established guidelines.
  • Manages employees, including recruitment, work assignments, development, and performance.
  • Ensures compliance with headquarters’ human resource policies and procedures.
  • Oversees the collection and maintenance of district and multiple district leader records.
  • Recommends and/or implements department plans and goals and monitors progress.
  • Performs duties as assigned for the International Convention and EUROPA Forum, including preparing and conducting seminars.
  • Communicates and coordinates with field and regional offices as needed.
 


We’re Looking for Someone With:

  • Bachelor's degree in international relations, humanities, languages (French, German, Italian, Swedish, or Finnish) or related field.
  • ​​​​​​​Bilingual with near-native language ability in French, German, Italian, Swedish or Finnish.
  • Five years of experience in an international organization, preferably as a translator or interpreter, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three or more years of management experience.
  • Knowledge of cultures from Europe and francophone countries.
  • Familiarity with SDL Trados and/or other CAT tools preferred.
  • Experience with Kudo or other meeting platforms with interpretation capacity preferred.
