Location Description:

Welcome to the World of Whirlpool, a unique and innovative closed-market facility nestled in the heart of Chicago. Operating as a dedicated Training and Conference Center, our purpose revolves around supporting the Sales Enablement team for Whirlpool Corporation. Situated within our building, the 8th floor is transformed into a state-of-the-art showroom, featuring 11 fully functional kitchens. This remarkable space serves as a hands-on training ground for trade partners, including sales representatives from renowned companies such as Home Depot. In 2010, Whirlpool made a strategic decision to create its own showroom floor, eliminating the need to transport appliances to trade shows. We provide comprehensive hospitality services, including housekeeping, food and beverage offerings, meticulous event setups, and overall operational support. Overview:

BASIC FUNCTION : The Experience Center F&B Manager is responsible for assisting and overseeing areas of F&B operations with primary focus on the front of house ensuring the highest level of standards are delivered consistently creating WoW gue st experiences. The position will also assist in forecasting, planning and management of all F&B orders, staff and accounting standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  

1. Carry out the policies and procedures of World of Whirlpool and Benchmark Hospitality, while maintaining the highest degree of professionalism and teamwork atmosphere as per standard of service.  

1. Ensure physical atmosphere and cleanliness of the World of Whirlpool, including demonstrational kitchens, storage areas, event spaces and side stations.  

1. Monitor, maintain , and critique food quality and service levels.  

1. Hire and maintain training for all front of the house staff.  

1. Scheduling of staff according to occupancy level and forecasting, along with monitoring payroll and revenue.  

1. Monitor all current inventories (liquor, beer, wine, food, etc.) and the ordering of new products .  

1. Responsible for daily paperwork including closing checklist, inventories, food handlers’ license, etc.  

1. Assist guests / staff with trouble shooting any problems that may occur.  

1. Communicate with the planning managers on upcoming events.  

1. Attending department head, conference review, food and beverage and pre-con meetings, as required .  

1. Holding daily lineups to communicate information regarding upcoming events and training  

1. Maintain the highest level of employee/guest relations.  

1. Maintain a good working relationship with all Departments within Benchmark Hospitality & Whirlpool.  

 

 

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:  

1. Accept food deliveries and able to catch quality control concerns on the Executive Chef’s behalf.  

1. Ability to organize, label and store food items properly after accepting deliveries.  

1. Ability to work any assigned shift/work schedule.  

1. Any other task, written or verbal, assigned by Management.  

1. Assist in other areas of the World of Whirlpool; including the First Floor Experience Center, as needed.  

1. Adhere to the policies of the kitchen as set forth in the Employee Handbook and report any observed   violations to Human Resources.  

 

ENVIRONMENT:  

Indoors, dimly lit, carpeted, climate-controlled environment. Hard kitchen floors with occasional slippery or greasy areas. Handling hot China and silver. Outdoors, cement surfaces, with exposure to outdoor climate and elements.

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, & WORK EXPERIENCE  

• High school diploma or equivalent.  

• Minimum of three years restaurant experience preferred.  

• Minimum of one year department supervisory experience required .  

• Minimum of one year bartending experience, preferred.  

• Introductory Sommelier certificate, preferred.  

• Meet City and State Food Sanitation Requirements.  

• Current Food Handlers and TIPS/Bassett  

• Ability to transport, handle and/or lift 100 lbs. (NOTE: kitchen equipment & food and non-food items).  

• Ability to effectively communicate in the English language; i.e. follow written and verbal directions, count accurately, along with must be able to read and write.  

Compensation Range: The compensation for this position is $70,000.00/Yr. - $80,000.00/Yr. based on qualifications and experience.
