Overview

This position is responsible for coordinating the upkeep and maintenance of designated facilities, to include City Hall, City Hall Annex, Customer Service, Municipal Court Complex, Georgia Department of Labor, Binion Property, Sunset Hill Cemetery, PremiseHealth Clinic, and the Crime Lab.

Qualifications

• Plans, budgets and coordinates repair and upkeep of City-owned facilities and grounds.
• Supervises personnel performing custodial tasks.
• Ensures hazards are eliminated at facilities to prevent accidents to employees and the public.
• Works with the management of each facility to maintain the physical building and specialized equipment.
• Supervises and trains staff on the use of equipment.
• Performs planning and budgeting for upkeep of facilities and equipment.
• Prepare documents for procurement and contract management for approval by Department Head.
• Oversees projects and supervises and coordinates work of contractors.
• Completes repairs as required.
• Performs other related duties as required.

• Familiarity with City-owned facilities.

• Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.

• Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
• Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years’ experience or service.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
• Previous experience of managing a facilities/office services department preferred.
• Knowledge of carpentry, basic plumbing, and heating and air conditioning strongly preferred.
