Job Title: Field Engineering TechnicianJob Description Environmental technicians work with scientists and engineers on a variety of municipal solid waste landfill, groundwater well monitoring, and chemical/petroleum spill projects. Oversight includes groundwater monitoring, landfill gas monitoring, landfill cap and liner construction quality assurance (CQA), vapor monitoring, field note preparation, and emergency spill response testing. Responsibilities Conduct groundwater monitoring and landfill gas monitoring. Oversee landfill cap and liner construction quality assurance (CQA). Perform vapor monitoring and prepare detailed field notes. Engage in emergency spill response testing. Perform site inspections and construction testing. Essential Skills Construction and construction testing experience. Site inspection experience. Civil engineering knowledge. Environmental monitoring and testing skills. Hazwoper certification. 1 year of related experience in a large commercial construction environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Associate degree in an environmental, civil, or construction-related field. Preferred OSHA and Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training. Work Environment The work environment is onsite in a large construction environment. The role involves lifting up to 100 lbs and performing light labor, including lifting large pieces of pipe for testing. Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be required. The job offers intriguing projects that are challenging and varied. Travel is typically within 100 miles of Omaha, with some overnight travel, accounting for approximately 25% of the time.
