Job Description

The Barrie KOA is currently looking to hire in our Front Desk department. Seeking individuals who have a passion to provide exceptional customer service, a strong work ethic, and are seeking an opportunity that provides individual growth. A passion for working with customers of all ages, and the ability to work in a fast paced environment. We will have opportunities for Front Desk team members who are able to work a variety of shifts, on a rotating schedule throughout the summer season. 

Position Summary : The Front Desk Team Member has the ability to provide exceptional customer service to all guests, allowing them to enjoy a memorable camping experience. This role includes, but is not limited to, camper reservations, registrations and store sales. As part of the Front Desk you will be required to work in a team environment, and must possess the ability to maintain confidence, understanding, and knowledge of the task at hand while dealing with various customer interactions. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide superior customer service either over the telephone, text, or in person, by being enthusiastic, attentive, friendly and helpful. Handle all guest issues with respect.
  • To contribute to the organization and operations by following all KOA guidelines and procedures.
  • Work well in a team environment, accepting instruction from supervisors and managers on duty. 
  • To handle front desk operations as it relates to the registration of campers i.e. campsite assignment and control, telephone reservations and inquiries.
  • Assist with duties assigned in our on-site restaurant and food service area. 
  • Report all guest problems, requests or complaints to the owners, campground manager or shift supervisor and follow-up to resolve the issue if possible.
  • Follow specific cash and credit card handling procedures as it relates to store sales and registrations. Properly use the computer, and other front desk equipment.
  • Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of a clean store, laundry room, recreation hall and washroom facilities.
  • Promote local attractions, as well as, the KOA system by KOA Rewards sales and referrals to other KOAs, and being knowledgeable of all national and local advertising and discount programs for the campground, store and other income areas.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Campground Manager.

  • Comply with all federal and provincial safety programs by adhering to established guidelines as set out by Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations as they relate to the workplace ensuring your safety, as well as that of fellow staff and campground guests.

Qualifications:

  • Have experience or expressed interest in this field. 
  • Previous work experience dealing in customer service. 
  • Possess strong leadership and communication skills. 
  • Be flexible with their schedule. Working primarily weekends, as business levels require. 
  • Speak the English language fluently. French is an asset. 
  • Computer skills.
  • Competent in cash handling. 
  • General knowledge of computer operations.
  • Speaks the English language fluently. French would be an asset.
  • Applicants must be able to complete mandatory training in April, prior to season start. 
  • Must be able to work weekends May - October. 

Physical Requirements

  • Work in all weather conditions both indoor and outdoor. 
  • Be able to be on their feet for a full shift, 4 - 8 hours or more. 
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Long periods of standing, bending, and kneeling
  • Must be able to communicate over the phone as well as walkie system. 

Wage & Hours: 

  • Wage starting at $17.20, or student minimum wage (should it apply) $16.20
  • May, June, September & October primarily weekends. 
  • July & August shifts vary through the week as needed. 

Expected Results:

  • Friendly, helpful and professional guest service delivery.
  • Demonstration of a positive attitude with guests, management and team members.
  • Greet all guests with a positive attitude and well-groomed appearance, a smile, recognition and a proper KOA uniform and name tag.
  • Attention to detail when taking reservations or registering guests.
  • Careful, honest and accurate money handling.
  • Promotion of Barrie KOA and the entire KOA system.
