As a UX/UI Developer Intern, you will play a critical role in enhancing the user experience and interface design of our mobile-friendly web application, which serves as the Vehicle Management Platform. This platform supports teams across the entire lifecycle of the vehicle, including proactive monitoring of vehicle health, ensuring the security of all LCD vehicles, and optimizing the utilization of LCD’s internal fleet, among many other features. You will collaborate with our product, design, and engineering teams to develop intuitive, user-friendly interfaces that seamlessly integrate with our platform.

Role/Responsibilities

  • User Experience Design: Work closely with our design team to research, prototype, and design user experiences that are not only visually appealing but also intuitive and responsive.
  • User Interface Development: Implement and refine UI components using ReactJS, ensuring consistency, accessibility, and performance across our web applications.
  • Collaborative Development: Participate in cross-functional team meetings to understand user needs, brainstorm solutions, and contribute to design and development decisions.
  • User Testing and Feedback: Assist in conducting user testing sessions, gathering feedback, and iterating on designs based on user insights.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain design documentation, style guides, and component libraries to ensure design consistency across the platform.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong foundational knowledge of UX/UI principles, including user-centered design, information architecture, and usability testing.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.
  • Experience in frontend development with ReactJS, including the use of hooks, state management, and component-based architecture.
  • Understanding of responsive design and mobile-first development.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate design ideas and concepts effectively.
  • Previous project experience or internships in UX/UI design or front-end development is a plus.

Education

  • Field(s) of study: Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or related fields
  • Will consider undergrads Junior level or above Pursuing Bachelor’s or master's degree
  • Proof of enrollment in current or into next program (MS)

Program Information

  • Timing: May- August, or June-September pending class schedules.
  • Duration of Internship: Our internship program is 12 weeks; the end date is flexible based on individual needs.
  • Work Location & Environment: This position will be in Newark, CA, and is fully in-person. You must be prepared to start onsite for your first day of employment. The working environment will be a mix of lab & office work.
  • Compensation: Student compensation is based on location and current degree level, non-negotiable ranging from $48 to $66.
  • Relocation: May be provided on a case to case basis.
  • Housing/Transportation: You must provide your own living arrangements and transportation in the local area.
  • Background Check: All offers of employment are contingent on clearing a background check.
  • Drug Screening: All offers of employment are contingent on passing a drug screen.
  • Medical benefits: Dental, vision, and medical on day 1 for all interns working full-time.
  • Visa Sponsorship: Lucid may but is not obligated to sponsor foreign national employees requiring company sponsorship for U.S employment authorization.

Compensation Range : The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.

Additional Compensation and Benefits : Lucid offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs. (Cash or equity incentive awards, if any, will depend on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and company performance.)

Base Pay Range (hourly)

$48—$66 USD
