BASIC FUNCTION: The Maintenance Worker/Supervisor position holds primary responsibility for landscaping and related upkeep of Town facilities and assisting members of the Public Works staff with maintenance of the Town’s water wastewater facilities and streets. Personnel may be assigned as direct reports to this position at the discretion of the Town Administrator.
MAJOR JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Safely and accurately operate mowers, tractors, weed eaters, chainsaws, blowers, edgers, and related landscaping and mowing equipment. Performs work in the general cleaning, maintenance and upkeep of Town facilities including cleaning grounds, edging, planting, weeding, trimming, raking, and related work.

Assist with water and wastewater system and roadway maintenance and repairs. Safely and accurately operate and use hand tools, heavy equipment such as backhoes, vehicles, and other construction equipment. Installs, disinfects, and cleans lines, repairs leaks, tests and repairs meters and taps. Performs street related maintenance and repair work including finishing concrete, setting forms, lying asphalt, assisting operators, removing debris from catch basins, and directing traffic.

Performs work in constructing, painting, repairing, or other duties associated with building maintenance, including plumbing, electrical, and concrete finishing.

Maintains tools, equipment, and vehicles including routine maintenance and minor repairs.

Completes service orders and requests. Completes and performs any other related duties as required or assigned.

WORK BEHAVIOR: The employee must engage in behaviors that are consistent with Town’s Vision, Mission, and Core Values. The employee must demonstrate strong communication skills both orally and in written form when communicating with individuals, small and large groups. The employee must be able to utilize a computer, smart phone, various work productivity software components, and complete paperwork. The employee must be skilled in planning and implementing departmental procedures and objectives and in resolving conflicts and complaints effectively.
WORKING CONDITIONS: (Rotating Shifts, Overtime, Weekend Work, Travel, 8-12 Hour Workdays, etc.) . This position is non-exempt, hourly. Work hours are typically during normal business hours, including alternative work schedules (e.g. Monday-Thursday 7a-5:30pm). The employee must be able to respond to emergencies as they arise often outside of working hours and on holidays. The employee is expected to be able to work in all kinds of weather conditions and be exposed to the elements – particularly during emergencies.
