Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and compassionate Skilled Nursing Facility Driver to transport residents to medical appointments, dialysis sessions, and other necessary trips. This role is essential in ensuring that our residents receive safe and timely transportation while maintaining the highest level of care and professionalism. The ideal candidate should have excellent driving skills, a caring attitude, and the ability to handle sensitive situations with respect and empathy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Transport Residents: Safely drive residents to and from medical appointments, including dialysis treatments, doctor's visits, and other health-related appointments.
  • Pick-Up and Drop-Off Admissions: Assist with the transportation of new admissions to the facility and ensure smooth drop-off/pick-up processes.
  • Patient Assistance: Assist residents in and out of the vehicle, ensuring their comfort and safety at all times. Provide help as needed with walking aids or mobility devices.
  • Maintain Vehicle: Ensure that the vehicle is properly cleaned, maintained, and in safe operating condition. Report any mechanical issues to the maintenance team promptly.
  • Documentation: Accurately complete and maintain transportation logs, including times, destinations, and special needs or instructions for each trip.
  • Safety: Ensure the vehicle is in compliance with all safety regulations and that residents are secured in the vehicle with appropriate safety restraints.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with nursing staff and other team members to coordinate appointments and special transportation needs.
  • Emergency Preparedness: In case of emergency, be prepared to follow proper emergency protocols and transport residents to the nearest medical facility as required.
  • Customer Service: Provide courteous, professional, and respectful service to residents, families, and staff. Ensure that each resident's experience is as comfortable and pleasant as possible.
Qualifications:
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Experience: Prior experience driving for a healthcare facility, senior living environment, or similar setting is preferred but not required.
  • Vehicle Knowledge: Familiarity with the operation of accessible transportation vehicles (e.g., vans with wheelchair lifts) is a plus.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to assist residents in and out of vehicles and lift/carry small to moderate amounts of weight (e.g., medical equipment, bags).
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with residents, families, and staff.
  • Punctuality: Must be dependable and arrive on time for scheduled appointments.
  • Background Check: Successful completion of a background check and drug screening.
