Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is looking to hire an Office Coordinator at Rice Lake State Fish & Wildlife Area for The Office of Land Management. This position will assist in preparing and monitoring the operational budget, serve as timekeeper for assigned sites and provide specialized office support functions while explaining rules, regulations, programs and procedures, utilize the computer to create various databases and spreadsheets, prepare documents and reports for hunting, fishing and recreational programs. Essential Functions

  • Under direct supervision of the Site Superintendent, performs complex, specialized office support function duties for Rice Lake, Spring Lake/Mackinaw, Anderson Lake and satellites.
  • Assists with preparation of operational budgets, equipment requests, and inventory records.
  • Serves as timekeeper for assigned sites and staff.
  • Prepares complex correspondence and memos from written and dictated instruction, including safety issues,questionnaires, department information and numerous detailed information requests from visitors and other agencies.
  • Develops complex, multi-program databases, spreadsheets, forms, and applications for fast and efficient completion of routine reports.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to two (2) years of secretarial/business college, or completion of high school and two (2) years of related office experience or two (2) years of independent business experience.
  • Requires ability to keyboarding accurately at 30 WPM.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of experience utilizing basic mathematics.
  • Two (2) years of exeperience working with various computer programs/software.
  • Two years of experience following oral or written instructions.
  • Extensive knowledge of composition, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

The Office of Land Management (OLM) oversees nearly 400 individual parcels of land and institutes a wide variety of programs and activities advocating outdoor recreation through sustainable use, conservation, and preservation. The Historic Sites Division of the Office of Land Management oversees 57 Historic Sites, Monuments, and Memorials. OLM facilitates activities from small group interpretive programming at Historical Sites, to hiking, hunting, fishing, boating, and camping.
