Description

About Aspire:
Aspire Public Schools operates a network of high-performing, college preparatory charter schools serving TK-12 scholars in communities across California. Founded in 1998—in an effort to transform the inequitable racial, social, and gender outcomes that our communities persist through—Aspire is one of the largest and most forward-thinking open-enrollment public charter school systems in the nation.

Our purpose is to prepare our scholars for success in college, career, and life. At Aspire, we set a foundation for our scholars to gain knowledge, skills, and power to access and make choices for their families and post-secondary lives. Every day, our community of students, families, teachers and staff comes together to learn, work, and play in an environment grounded in our values of Bienestar (Well-Being), Culture of Belonging, Community Partnership, Agency & Self-Determination, and Joy.

The Opportunity:
Behind every successful student is a team of passionate and dedicated educators. As an On-Site Instructional Coach at Aspire, you will serve as a resource for the implementation of the educational program and provide training and support for teachers on site within a small school environment where every student is known and valued as an individual. In addition, you will empower students to take control of their own learning and contribute to the continuous improvement of our nationally recognized model. Your professional learning community will provide a supportive and collaborative environment to fuel your growth and development. Together, we will change the odds for underserved students, ensuring that every student is prepared to earn a college degree.

What You Will Do:

  • Work closely with the Principal to identify needed resources (i.e. consultants, curriculum materials).
  • Facilitate team meetings.
  • Support teachers who are applying for National Board Certification.
  • Cohere curriculum, instruction and assessment for teachers across grade levels and courses
  • Align curriculum, instruction and assessment guidance to meet achievement targets
  • Backwards map curriculum, instruction, assessment from CCSS/NGSS
  • Identify regional and school progress monitoring systems, frequency and tools to meet achievement targets
  • Participate in regional and school progress monitoring, data analysis and adjustment of strategy and supports
  • Participate in Instructional Rounds and analyze data to assess progress across classrooms and adjust materials and training accordingly
  • Work with assigned teachers to identify needed skills/techniques.
  • Conduct demonstration lessons, hold mini-workshops and professional book clubs, and provide summer
    training.

What You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree, with relevant degree and/or content expertise; Master’s preferred
  • 5+ years as a teacher or administrator
  • CA Multiple Subject Teaching Credential
  • Expertise in elementary and/or secondary Common Core State Standards
  • Deep knowledge of curriculum development and program design
  • Ability to design systems for standards, curriculum, instruction and assessment alignment that result in higher student achievement
  • Knowledge of adult learning and professional development frameworks
  • Demonstrated command of the intricacies of instruction-assessment cycle and ability to apply this knowledge to cohesive CIA development
  • Demonstrated ability to build adult capacity
  • Ability to manage projects including development, implementation and evaluation
  • Ability to communicate proactively, effectively and provide and act on feedback

Compensation:
Aspire Public Schools is dedicated to our teammate's well-being! In addition to a competitive base salary that is benchmarked against local districts and charter schools, we offer employees exceptional benefits, including paid time off, 100% core health benefits coverage on select plans, life insurance/long-term disability, participation in a CA state retirement plan, tuition reimbursement plan, and adoption assistance program.
