About IAAM The International Association of Advanced Materials (IAAM) is a non-profit scientific organization committed to advancing research and innovation for a sustainable and climate-neutral future. IAAM leads global R&D in Net-Zero technologies, circular economy, and renewable energy systems, with active research centres in Europe and Asia dedicated to real-world impact and community development.
Position Overview IAAM invites motivated and innovative researchers to apply for Postdoctoral positions in Biochar Production, Syngas Generation, Green Hydrogen Separation, Net-Zero Heat Distribution Systems, Advanced Electrochemistry, and Integrated Spectroscopy. The role integrates materials design, electrochemistry, and process engineering to develop sustainable biomass-to-energy pathways and high-efficiency energy systems for Net-Zero communities.
Key Responsibilities - Biochar & Syngas Systems: Design, operate, and optimize biomass pyrolysis/gasification reactors for clean energy production.
- Process Optimization: Investigate reactor parameters, feedstock behavior, and thermodynamics to enhance yield, efficiency, and carbon sequestration.
- Green Hydrogen Recovery: Develop and test hydrogen separation and purification systems using membrane or catalytic methods.
- Energy Systems Modeling: Simulate and evaluate carbon balance, energy flow, and Net-Zero heat generation.
- Community Heating Design: Engineer efficient, community-scale heat distribution networks for regional sustainability.
- LCA & Techno-Economics: Conduct life cycle and techno-economic assessments of integrated processes.
Advanced Electrochemistry & Spectroscopy
- Lead Net-Zero R&D on battery systems, hydrogen production, syngas conversion, and CO₂ utilization.
- Develop protocols and models to study Faradaic and non-Faradaic phenomena in energy materials.
- Design and perform in-situ/operando spectroscopic studies (UV-Vis, Raman, FTIR, XPS, impedance, cyclic voltammetry).
- Engineer and optimize electrode/electrolyte materials for energy storage and conversion systems.
- Integrate electrochemical data and modeling to understand interfacial charge transfer and reaction kinetics.
- Contribute to biochar-derived carbon materials, heteropolar graphene, and sustainable electrodes.
- Collaborate globally across IAAM’s research network and contribute to publications, grant proposals, and international projects.
Candidate Profile
- PhD (or near completion) in Chemical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Environmental Science, Materials Science, or Sustainable Process Engineering.
- Research experience in biomass conversion, pyrolysis, gasification, or hydrogen systems.
- Understanding of reactor design, heat recovery, and carbon-negative processes.
- Proficiency in electrochemical design, spectroscopy, and system modeling.
- Demonstrated record of peer-reviewed publications and innovative research.
- Excellent teamwork, communication skills, and readiness to relocate between IAAM’s global centres.
- Strong motivation to drive Net-Zero technologies and sustainability transitions.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary and full research infrastructure support.
- Access to world-class laboratories, pilot plants, and Net-Zero demonstration sites.
- Opportunities for international collaboration with IAAM partners across Europe, America, and Asia.
- Participation in IAAM’s Net-Zero Technology Missions and global sustainability congresses.
- Mentorship in innovation management, system integration, and community-scale technology deployment.
Application Procedure: Submit the following (PDF) with your application by 30 November 2025:
- Cover Letter – Outline research motivation and relevance to Net-Zero systems.
- Curriculum Vitae – Include publications, projects, and skills.
- Research Proposal (1–2 pages) – Focused on biochar, syngas, hydrogen, or electrochemical systems.
