Job Description
Dr. Pere Miro's research group in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Iowa has an outstanding opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Scholar to work on an NSF-funded project (CAREER: Understanding Structure-Function Relationships of Polyoxovanadate-Alkoxide Clusters from a Bottom-Up Perspective, CHE- 2145657). This position involves research in the area of computational chemistry. Application review will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
Research Focus:
- Advanced computational methods to study nucleation and growth of functionalized molecular metal oxides
- Catalysis of small molecule reactions
- High-level quantum chemical calculations and neural network algorithms
- Density functional theory, domain-based local pair natural orbital coupled cluster, and second-order complete active space methodologies
Ideal Candidate:
- Experience in computational methods for electronic structure and reactivity of molecular systems with multiple transition metals
- Proficiency in Python or similar coding languages
- Strong scientific writing skills
Responsibilities:
- Conduct independent research
- Mentor junior group members
- Present at scientific meetings
- Prepare scientific publications
