Job Description

Dr. Pere Miro's research group in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Iowa has an outstanding opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Scholar to work on an NSF-funded project (CAREER: Understanding Structure-Function Relationships of Polyoxovanadate-Alkoxide Clusters from a Bottom-Up Perspective, CHE- 2145657). This position involves research in the area of computational chemistry. Application review will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.

Research Focus:


  • Advanced computational methods to study nucleation and growth of functionalized molecular metal oxides

  • Catalysis of small molecule reactions

  • High-level quantum chemical calculations and neural network algorithms

  • Density functional theory, domain-based local pair natural orbital coupled cluster, and second-order complete active space methodologies

Ideal Candidate:


  • Experience in computational methods for electronic structure and reactivity of molecular systems with multiple transition metals

  • Proficiency in Python or similar coding languages

  • Strong scientific writing skills

Responsibilities:


  • Conduct independent research

  • Mentor junior group members

  • Present at scientific meetings

  • Prepare scientific publications
