Job Description

Why Join CrunchLabs?

Designing for CrunchLabs means you’ll be tasked with creating STEAM toys that teach through play. Our team of product designers use mechanisms and physics to fuel the fun in every single one of our toys. We constantly push each other to make better products and become better designers no matter our skill level. We don’t only want to grow as a company, we want our people to grow as well.

What will you be doing?

You will be designing new, exciting products and you will be responsible for leading your own projects. This includes the following: sketching, brainstorming, prototyping, pitching, refining, user testing, designing instructions, building BOM’s, sampling, and shipping. Although you will be the lead, we keep a strong culture of collaborative support across our team. We expect our product designers to design past the first solution in order to find the best solution. We also have a variety of youtube and social media endeavors that we encourage everyone to play a helping role in, whether it’s behind the camera or in front of it.

What you need to have:

  • Product design experience (hard-goods)
  • Basic understanding of core mechanical engineering principles
  • Strong prototyping skills (laser cutting, 3D printing, machining)
  • 3D Modeling (Parametric CAD - Solidworks, Fusion 360, ect.)
  • Vector Modeling (Adobe Illustrator)
  • Sketching/Whiteboarding (efficiently explaining ideas)
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Engineering, Design, ect.)

It would be a bonus if you had:

  • Designing for manufacturing (Injection molding, vacuum forming, ect.)
  • Experience with micro controllers (Arduino)
  • Graphic Design proficiency (packaging, booklets, ect.)
  • Artistic background
  • User testing experience
  • Experience designing for assembly (instructions)
