Small Planes Coffee is seeking a well-qualified, enthusiastic candidate to fill the role of Production Assistant at our coffee roasting facility in Washington DC. Job Overview

The Production Assistant’s role is to support all aspects of the roasting business. This ranges from packaging and processing Small Planes roasted coffee to maintaining operations at the roasting facility to delivering boxes of roasted coffee to wholesale customers throughout the DC metro area. An ideal candidate for this position is punctual, reliable, efficient, detail-oriented, curious, and able to meet the physical demands of the job. This position will be roughly 30 hrs/week with potential for growth within the company. Our current hours of operation fall between 6am-10pm Monday-Friday. (we do not need overnight or weekend help at the moment)

We are currently looking to add a team member 6 hrs/day Monday-Friday to start.

Please note: this is not a coffee roasting position. Initial responsibilities will not include roasting coffee but instead will focus on packaging and delivery.

Job Responsibilities

• Prepare product packaging, with consistent attention to detail, to maintain inventory ahead of next production day.

• Package roasted coffee.

• Prepare roasted coffee orders for Small Planes local delivery and/or shipment via USPS.

• Computer-based tasks including logging subscription orders, tracking and fulfilling orders on Shopify and Clockwork sites, printing packing reports, coffee labels and shipping labels, UPC stickers

• Assist with equipment cleaning and maintenance.

• Assist with inventory of packaging/shipping supplies, alerting Production Manager when needs arise

• Delivery of local wholesale orders via company delivery vehicle.

• Light custodial tasks including taking out trash and recycling 2x/week, cleaning bathrooms and warehouse weekly

• Regularly taste coffee and contribute feedback

• Attend weekly staff meeting

• Other responsibilities as needed

Qualifications

• Willing and able to follow instructions and perform repetitive tasks accurately and consistently.

• Interest in using logical problem-solving to implement and refine production systems.

• Self-motivated when working independently.

• Effective team player when assisting co-workers.

• Professional commitment to maintaining Small Planes’ quality and customer service standards.

• Able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout shift.

• Able to lift up to 70 pounds with assistance

• Current Drivers License and clean driving record as well as confidence driving a cargo van throughout the DMV

• Basic computer competency
