JOB OVERVIEW

• Clinical Shift Schedule: 12–16 hours per week; flexible schedule within business hours (Mon–Fri, 8:30a–5:00p)

PATIENT INFORMATION
• Patient Demographics: Developmentally disabled patients with mental health disorders (adult and child populations)
• Patient Volume/Census: 6–10 patients per day (depending on follow-ups vs. new psychiatric evaluations)
• Case Mix: Anxiety Disorder, Depression, Intermittent Explosive Disorder, Disruptive Mood Disorder, OCD, Schizoaffective Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, and related psychiatric conditions
FACILITY INFORMATION
• No. of Beds in Department: Outpatient clinic (non-inpatient setting)
• EMR System: Avatar NX
• Office Equipment Available: Standard outpatient psychiatric evaluation tools and electronic health record system
• Specialty Backup Available: Medical Director, nurses, clinicians, and case managers for collaborative care
• Support Staff Available: Multidisciplinary clinical and administrative team
• Reason for Coverage: Growth
PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE
• Hospital Privileges Required: No
• Credentialing Timeline: 30–60 days
• Orientation: Required prior to start (virtual or onsite, as arranged with facility)
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
• Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Not covered (local/drive-in candidates preferred)
REQUIRED PROCEDURES
• Psychiatric evaluations and mental status examinations (MSEs)
• Ongoing medication management and treatment planning
• Diagnosis and documentation per DSM criteria
• Telehealth and in-person psychiatric consultations
• Completion of all required reports and electronic medical records
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Licenses: Active California license required
• Board: Board Certified or Board Eligible (American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Adult and/or Child Psychiatry preferred)
• DEA: Authorized to prescribe controlled substances
• Certifications: Must be eligible for MediCal/Medicare certification
• Experience: Prior experience with developmental disabilities and mental health disorders preferred
• Other Qualifications: Flu and COVID vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions accepted); must enter hours in Vemsta platform; in-person presence required at least one day per week
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Perform psychiatric assessments, evaluations, and mental status examinations
• Provide diagnosis, medication management, and ongoing psychiatric care for assigned clients
• Utilize Avatar NX EMR and follow Santa Clara County Psychiatric Medical Guidelines
• Collaborate closely with Medical Director, nurses, clinicians, and case managers to deliver client-centered care
• Document assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes per facility standards
• Provide telehealth consultations (Zoom) and in-person clinic visits as scheduled
• Participate in quality assurance, improvement, and interdisciplinary collaboration initiatives
• Educate families and caregivers on psychiatric conditions and treatment plans
• Prepare legal or court-related documentation as needed (including JV220 forms)
