Pioneer Medical Center is a 25-bed critical access hospital, essentially the county hospital for Sweet Grass County, Montana: Population 3700. We are in a beautiful valley along the Yellowstone River, between three mountain ranges, just north of Yellowstone National Park. Pioneer Medical Center has an immediate opening for a full-time licensed Radiology Manager to join our hospital & clinics' patient care team.
PURPOSE/DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
In addition to all the features of the Imaging Technologist job description (performs all diagnostic tests ordered by providers within the scope of facility capabilities and according to departmental policies and procedures and is capable of preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment), formulates goals, selects policies, assigns objectives, and establishes standards of practice for the department.

DESCRIPTION
Supports and models behaviors consistent with Pioneer Medical Center’s mission, vision, values, code of business conduct and service expectations. Meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements. Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental, and outside agency standards as it relates to the environment, employee, patient safety or job performance.
Will accurately perform procedures and exams as outlined in departmental procedure manuals for radiology with minimal supervision.
Verify orders, prior lab work results and for previous radiology exams that will be used for comparison.
Must have the ability to accurately interpret a physician’s scanning instructions and perform CT procedures appropriately.
Must be able to safely administer contrast material.
Will explain examination and procedures to patient. Must be able to appropriately prepare and operate CT and x-ray equipment.
Must understand and practice safe radiation procedures for patients and personnel and follow ALARA principles.
Coordinates scheduling, transportation and testing of patients.
Performs daily quality assurance procedures on equipment and maintains documentation of all work.
Reports any problems with equipment or errors in procedures to the Radiology Manager.
Must be responsible for maintaining cleanliness of equipment in CT and X-ray room.
Pursues and maintains continuing education as outlined in the licensure laws of the state of Montana and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists for the purpose of keeping current and proficient in radiology.
Provides input to the supervisor for equipment and supply needs.
Identifies needs and sets goals for own growth and development.
Assumes responsibility for quality of work, procedures used, personnel and departmental costs.
Establishes and monitors quality control and quality assurance programs as well as confirming and verifying all results through an in-depth knowledge of techniques, principles, theory, and instrumentation.
Monitoring work in both Cat Scan and X-ray and correlating data for diagnosis and patient management.
Assures the radiology department is in compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding standards of service and safety.
Ensures a sufficient number of qualified personnel for both departments.
Ensures sufficient continuing education for personnel in the Radiology Department in order to qualify for licensure renewal annually.
Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.

KNOWLEDGE OF:
Basic knowledge of medical science commensurate with technical level of radiology (i.e., physics and anatomy for radiology and radiology procedure, etc.).
Medical terminology and use of ICD-10 and CPT coding.

COMPLEXITY & DIFFICULTY:
Failure to properly perform sometimes multi-step procedures in acquiring diagnostic images in this job can negatively impact a patient’s outcome, perhaps even mortality.

Resourcefulness in dealing with emergency situations.
Required to be competent and knowledgeable in emergency care principles.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Technologist needs to have completed an accredited education program related to radiology and be licensed and registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
Montana licensed.
Minimum of 1 year of CT experience.
Minimum two years of supervisory experience preferred.
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience relating to the above tasks, knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.

Required to work varying shifts, weekends, and holidays as well as share call responsibilities. Be able to complete all responsibilities in a timely fashion in the midst of other work responsibilities.
