As a Service Writer at Cookeville Transmission, you will be the primary point of contact for our customers, ensuring their needs are met with professionalism and care. You’ll bridge the gap between customers and our technicians by listening to customer concerns, scheduling services, preparing estimates, and keeping everyone informed throughout the repair process. This role combines technical knowledge, outstanding communication, and a passion for customer service to ensure smooth operations and satisfied clients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Greet customers warmly, listen to their vehicle concerns, and document issues accurately for technicians.
• Schedule appointments and manage the workflow between customers and the service team.
• Prepare detailed repair estimates, explain services and costs to customers, and obtain approval before work begins.
• Act as a liaison between customers and technicians, providing updates on repair progress and explaining completed work.
• Order parts as needed, ensuring timely availability while balancing cost and quality.
• Handle customer inquiries and resolve complaints with empathy and professionalism.
• Maintain accurate records of repair orders, invoices, and customer interactions using shop management software.
• Advise customers on routine maintenance and additional services to keep their vehicles in top condition.

Skills & Qualifications

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build trust with customers and collaborate with the team.
• Strong in Customer Service and Sales.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic computer proficiency, including experience with word processing and industry-specific software (e.g., shop management systems).
• Knowledge of automotive systems and terminology to effectively communicate with customers and technicians.
• Problem-solving skills to address customer concerns and ensure satisfaction.
• A positive attitude and a customer-first mindset.

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience as a Service Writer, Service Advisor, or similar role in an auto repair or dealership.
• Sales experience, ideally in a customer-facing role, with a proven ability to recommend products or services effectively.
• Familiarity with automotive repair processes and diagnostic procedures.
• Experience using shop management software or customer relationship management (CRM) tools.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional automotive training or certification is a plus.

Requirements

• Must provide three professional references upon request.
• Commitment to maintaining a drug-free workplace, with willingness to submit to a drug test upon request.
• Successful completion of a background check as a condition of employment.
