Your Role: Safety Manager
As the Safety Manager , you will be the driving force behind a culture of safety across multiple heavy civil and mining job sites. You will develop, implement, and monitor safety programs to ensure compliance with OSHA, MSHA, and industry best practices . Reporting to senior leadership and managing one Safety Specialist, you’ll empower teams to work safely, prevent incidents, and drive continuous improvement in safety performance.
Key Responsibilities
Develop & Manage Safety Programs: Create and enforce safety and health training, inspections, and protocols that comply with OSHA and MSHA regulations.
Jobsite Oversight: Inspect job sites, equipment, and practices to ensure compliance and immediately halt unsafe operations if needed.
Incident Prevention & Response: Investigate accidents and near-misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
Training & Orientation: Deliver engaging safety training for employees, including new-hire orientations and equipment demonstrations.
Documentation & Compliance: Maintain OSHA/MSHA records, training logs, and hazard communication programs.
Field Collaboration: Partner with Project Managers and foremen to address hazardous conditions or unsafe practices proactively.
Continuous Improvement: Lead safety audits, vehicle/equipment inspections, and implement initiatives to reduce risks.
What You Bring
Experience in heavy civil construction, mining, or cement industries (preferred).
Working knowledge of (or willingness to quickly learn):
OSHA & MSHA regulations
Heavy equipment safety & operations (loaders, excavators, dozers, graders, compactors, etc.)
General site preparation & road construction techniques
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to influence field teams and management.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities under pressure.
Proven recordkeeping and reporting skills with attention to detail.
Additional Requirements
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship available).
Must have a clean or nearly clean driving record (company vehicle provided).
No relocation assistance — local or self-relocating candidates only.
