Job Description

Responsibilities:

• Provides customer service; explains regulations; answers the telephone; responds to questions on operations, procedures, acceptable materials, and advises users on proper access, location and use of solid waste facility.
• Inspects solid waste materials for compliance with landfill and departmental regulations.
• Operates computerized scales to weigh vehicles entering and exiting solid waste facility to compute net weight of solid waste materials to be disposed of and user fees.
• Receives cash, check and credit card payments from users without established accounts; charges fees to established accounts; prepares invoices for solid waste accounts; mails monthly statements.
• Closes out records on a daily basis and verifies daily cash reports; prepares money for deposit.
• Prepares purchase orders; processes invoices; transmits payments to Finance department; compiles program and service activity data; creates records by posting general program activity on established forms, files, computer databases and spreadsheets. 
• Prepares and maintains records and reports pertaining to landfill scale, weight, user fees, and landfill activities.
• Enforces Federal, State and local regulations related to disposal of solid waste.
• Assists with grant application completion for scrap tires and electronics.
• Coordinates removal of disposed tires; dispatches for new tire trailers as needed. 
• Maintains office and site in clean and working order.
