Senior Data Engineer Our client is the first and largest peer-to-peer marketplace driven to change how the world views laundry. Their customers tap the app and outsource their laundry. For them, it’s life without laundry, because it was hacked out of existence. They solve a second problem too, which is that more and more people of varying backgrounds want to work from home. Luckily most people have an underutilized washer/dryer, which when combined with their Laundry Pro app, provides the first-ever manual labor work-from-home gig in the world.
Perfect product market fit drove a 100x surge in users & revenue and double-digit MoM growth over the past few years. In 2021 they scaled to 500+ markets throughout the United States. In March 2022 they closed a $10m seed round which included VC investments from Headline, Origin Ventures, Starting Line VC, Ludlow Ventures, and Clean Ventures, as well as notable angel investments from some of Silicon Valley’s most successful founders. Rocket growth continued in 2022 and 2023.
What You’ll Do
You won’t just tinker with datasets—you’ll architect the data backbone that powers the entire Poplin experience. You’ll be the wizard behind the curtain, designing efficient data pipelines, modeling like a pro, and turning raw information into actionable insights. Your work will directly influence core decisions across product, engineering, and growth teams.

Be the Guardian of Quality: Ensure every row, every column, and every insight is spotless, consistent, and accurate. No anomalies slip past you.
Architect Data Models: Build data structures that make querying fast, analytics easy, and real-time decision-making a breeze.
Collaborate at Scale: Partner with Product Managers, Software Engineers, and Marketing to identify data requirements. You’ll shape our KPIs and ensure everyone has the insights they need.
Centralize & Standardize: Champion a unified data ecosystem. From ingestion to analytics, you’ll guide the team to adopt best practices that scale effortlessly.
Innovate & Iterate: Spot opportunities to optimize processes, adopt new tools, and keep us on the cutting edge of data technology.
What You’ll Bring to the Table DBT & Python Superpowers : You’re fluent in Python and use DBT like a wizard’s wand.
Segment: We orchestrate all of our data with Segment, you are a Segment wiz.
Warehouse Know-How: BigQuery, Redshift, Snowflake—been there, crushed that. And you’ve orchestrated pipelines with Airflow, Fivetran, or Airbyte.
ETL/ELT Expertise: You design, build, and maintain sophisticated pipelines that move data seamlessly.
Data Model Vision: You understand how to create efficient, scalable data structures for maximum insight.
Cloud Savvy: Experience in GCP or AWS, and launching data centric services (BigQuery, Redshift etc..)
Fast Learner, Fast Mover: You thrive in a high velocity, async environment and translate complex data into clear business wins.
Startup Mindset: You’re self-directed, driven, and all about innovation. You don’t wait for permission—you make things happen. And you have previous experience working with startups.
Communication Chameleon: You speak tech with engineers, strategy with leadership, and everything in between with non-technical teams.
Bonus Points if You Also Have Performance Mastery: Experience developing and supporting large-scale data pipelines.
Data Lake & BI Solutions: You’ve built entire data platforms, data lakes, or next-level BI solutions.
Cloud Formation Wizardry: You can spin up infrastructure templates in your sleep.
Visualization Guru: Tableau, Power BI, Mixpanel—turning data into insights is second nature.
