Senior Data Engineer

Vantage is growing again and we are looking for Sr Data Engineer to join our team.  We are a fully remote team, but are primarily based in southern Ontario, and get together in person at least once a month for planning, team building and group work.   We foster a positive team environment focused on collaboration and the ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment.  

As a Data Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in designing and scaling our data infrastructure that is used to collect, process and analyze our massive data set. Using a wide variety of cutting edge technologies, we continue to push the boundaries of what's possible and we are excited for you to come and share your knowledge.

What you will do?

• Build Scalable Data Systems - Design, develop, and optimize data pipelines, ETL/ELT workflows, and data warehouses to support large-scale retail media analytics.

• Manage Big Data & Streaming Platforms - handle real-time and batch processing at scale

• Collaborate Cross-Functionally – Work closely with data scientists, analysts, software engineers, and product teams to ensure seamless data integration and access.

• Ensure Data Quality & Governance – Implement robust monitoring, validation, and security controls to maintain high data reliability.

What We’re Looking For:

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, big data, or distributed systems.

• Strong expertise in Python, SQL (or equivalent big data processing frameworks).

• Proficiency in ETL/ELT pipelines using Apache Airflow, or similar orchestration tools.

• Experience working with real-time streaming data (Kafka, Kinesis, or Pub/Sub).

• Strong understanding of data modelling, data warehousing, and distributed systems.

• Familiarity with privacy-compliant data processing (GDPR, CCPA) for advertising/retail media use cases.

• Bonus: Experience with data lakes, ML pipelines, or advertising technology (AdTech/MarTech).
