Job Description

Job Title: Senior Horizon VDI Architect

Location: Remote

Duration: 6+ Months

Rate: $95-100/hr on W2

We are seeking a Senior Horizon VDI Architect to support a large-scale transition from Citrix to Omnissa Horizon and the migration of 40,000+ virtual workloads into Microsoft Azure for a major global financial institution . This is a hands-on, full-time, dedicated architecture role , embedded within the client's Cloud Engineering and End User Platforms teams.

This architect will design and guide the buildout of Horizon on Azure , integrate identity and security components , collaborate with cloud engineering on landing zone patterns , support application delivery strategies , and ensure end-to-end technical success .

This role is ideal for someone who has led complex Horizon deployments and understands Azure at an enterprise level .

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead architecture and design for Omnissa Horizon on Microsoft Azure
• Define multi-region Horizon components , including Connection Servers, UAGs, App Volumes, and DEM
• Integrate Horizon into Azure Landing Zones (networking, security, compute, IAM)
• Collaborate with cloud engineering on Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) patterns
• Partner with security teams on F5 APM , segmentation , identity flows , and SAML
• Define image strategy , workload sizing , user personas , and operational models
• Support application delivery modernization , including App Volumes, Workspace ONE, and Intune
• Create architecture documentation , technical diagrams , and deployment patterns
• Participate in technical workshops with internal and client engineering teams
• Act as the senior technical resource across multiple workstreams

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

• 7+ years of experience designing and implementing Horizon at enterprise scale
• Strong hands-on expertise with Horizon Connection Servers, UAG, App Volumes, DEM, and Workspace ONE
• Experience with multi-site and multi-region architectures
• Azure VDI experience , including Landing Zones, virtual networking, hub-and-spoke models, Network Security Groups (NSGs), and IAM
• Proven experience collaborating with Cloud Platform , Network , Security , and IAM teams
• Familiarity with Terraform or other IaC tools , with the ability to review and guide engineering work
• Experience in financial services or highly regulated enterprise environments (preferred)
• Strong communication and documentation skills

NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS

• Omnissa or VMware Horizon certifications
• Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification
• Citrix-to-Horizon migration experience
• F5 APM or equivalent technologies
• PowerShell or automation scripting experience

ENGAGEMENT DETAILS

• Full-time, dedicated role
• 6 12 month engagement with a strong likelihood of extension
• Remote work , with periodic onsite visits in New York, Jersey City, Columbus, or Tampa
• Work within a large, cross-functional engineering program , including Azure, Security, Network, and EUC teams

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

An individual who has built enterprise Horizon platforms end-to-end , possesses deep Azure architectural and implementation expertise , communicates clearly , collaborates effectively across siloed teams , documents thoroughly , and can serve as the primary technical authority for Horizon in a fast-paced enterprise environment .
