Position Title: Breakfast Shift Supervisor

Location: DoubleTree Hotel, Portland

Department: Food & Beverage

Reports To: Restaurant Manager

Job Summary: The Breakfast Shift Supervisor at the DoubleTree Hotel in Portland is responsible for overseeing the breakfast operations, ensuring a high level of guest satisfaction, and maintaining the quality and efficiency of service. This role involves supervising the breakfast staff, coordinating daily activities, and ensuring that all standards of service and cleanliness are met. The ideal candidate will have excellent leadership skills, a strong attention to detail, and a commitment to providing exceptional guest experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Daily Operations:
    • Supervise and coordinate all breakfast shift activities to ensure smooth and efficient service.
    • Oversee the setup, operation, and breakdown of the breakfast service area.
    • Ensure that all food items are prepared and presented according to hotel standards.
  2. Team Management:
    • Lead, train, and motivate the breakfast staff, including servers, hosts, and kitchen personnel.
    • Conduct regular team meetings to communicate daily goals, special instructions, and service expectations.
  3. Guest Services:
    • Greet and interact with guests to ensure a positive dining experience.
    • Address and resolve any guest concerns or complaints promptly and professionally.
    • Monitor guest feedback and make recommendations for service improvements.
  4. Quality Control:
    • Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and cleanliness.
    • Conduct regular inspections of the breakfast area, including buffet setup, dining area, and kitchen.
    • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  5. Inventory and Supplies:
    • Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed.
    • Manage food and beverage costs by minimizing waste and ensuring proper portion control.
    • Coordinate with the kitchen staff to ensure timely and accurate food preparation.
  6. Administrative Duties:
    • Complete daily shift reports and maintain accurate records of guest counts, inventory, and staff performance.
    • Assist with payroll, scheduling, and other administrative tasks as needed.
    • Support the Restaurant Manager in planning and implementing special events and promotions.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a supervisory role within the hospitality or food and beverage industry.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
  • Knowledge of food safety and health regulations.
  • Proficiency in restaurant management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Additional education or certifications in hospitality management or a related field is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to work early morning shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
