Duties, Responsibilities & Other

KCI has an immediate need for a Senior Project Manager to join our team! In this role this person will manage large water/wastewater projects in the Houston area.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Manage multi-discipline water/wastewater/conveyance projects within the engineering and construction sector.
  • Assist engineers as needed in the development, estimating and constructability reviews to prepare projects for advertisements.
  • Work collaboratively with sales leaders to evaluate potential new work and supports the scoping and estimating efforts.
  • Provides guidance to drafters/designers, engineers, craft workers, other project team members, contractors, or subcontractors.
  • Prepare, monitor, and manage project budgets and schedules while managing the firm's risk.
  • Track, monitor, and coordinate construction project progress and lead by interacting with the clients on specific projects.
  • Manage and assist the team to ensure coverage of construction work to meet the contract requirments.
Ideal candidate will possess the following:
  • Experience with project management or technical leadership on water/wastewater/conveyance projects.
  • 10+ years of stormwater management, design and construction of various water and wastewater facility improvements including utilities, municipal infrastructure, water control facilities, canals & levees, and water & sewer design peferred
  • Familiar with state and local regulatory agencies standards and requirements, such as environmental, construction, water management, TxDOT, and Regional/Municipal Utilities.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required. Secondary degree such as a Master's, or licenses and certifications preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 - 12 years of experience.
  • Pre-employment drug screening is a condition of employment. Background and motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.
Performance Expectations

  • Complete Annual Individual Training Program
  • Hire and train additional personnel as required
  • Submit for approval and deliver timely annual Employee Performance Appraisals for assigned staff
  • Train adequate backup personnel to support your role in your absence
  • Develop and maintain customer relationships by soliciting monthly performance feedback, identifying client needs, and identifying the next project
  • Comply with all KCI policies and procedures
  • Ensure projects fulfill ISO compliance requirements
  • Establish strong working relationship with client, contractors, and design engineers
  • Maintain active participation in professional and business organizations
  • Manage work routine of all assigned staff and assign job activities as required
  • Complete other duties as required/assigned
  • Achieve or exceed budgeted individual utilization target
  • Assist with receivables management
  • Complete all tasks on time and within budget while fully meeting the scope
  • Consult and coordinate with other practices and sub-consultants as required
  • Ensure effective use of equipment and personnel
  • Manage project schedule and track burn rate to deliver all projects on time and within KCI's budget while fully meeting scope
  • Operate within specified (corporate or project) budget parameters
  • Analyze change orders and disputes and make recommendations to the owner
  • Maintain document control for correspondence, RFIs, submittals, etc.
  • Prepare and analyze schedules
  • Prepare cost estimates
  • Read plans and specifications and understand the construction contractor's means and methods
  • Solve construction problems in the field
  • Test, document, and assure quality of contractor's work
