Vineyard manager/Winemaker

Spring Hill Vineyards is a creative, family owned winery in Washington, CT; home to 8 acres of mature
and new vineyards.
We are looking for a knowledgable, creative individual with a passion for viticulture and winemaking. A
self starter with hands on vineyard experience, good communication skills able manage and
potentially expand our small vineyard. Focusing on growing the highest quality grapes for our region
and producing wines to match.

Vineyard Requirements

Manage and execute all vineyard maintenance based upon season timing, phenology, and weather
challenges to grow the highest quality grapes possible by ensuring plant health through;
- Appropriate weed & pest management spray programs
- Pruning, tying, training systems, canopy management
- Perform soil testing
- Schedule and conduct grape harvest

Cellar Requirements

Manage and participate of all wine gradings and allocation after harvest including;
- Wine movements
- Developing blends
- Fining, filtration, and bottling prep
- Produce wines according to wine style
- Lab analysis and quality standards management
- Maintain and manage inventory
- Assist with the preparation of and effective management of the annual winery budget
- Manage records for ATT and CT for annual reporting and compliance

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in viticulture or related agricultural field of study or equivalent
- Previous experience in vineyard management
- Current CT issued pesticide license
- Ability to operate MS Office and Excel
- Spanish is desired, but not required
- Ability to represent Spring Hill Vineyards with vendors, buyers and consultants as needed

Compensation
- $75-$80K DOE
- Medical insurance available
