Saturday - Sunday,  7:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Position Summary :

The receptionist is responsible for facilitating the flow of the organizations information and to provide a positive, responsive environment for receiving internal and external customers via telephone and face-to-face.  The receptionist operates a multi-line switchboard to relay incoming, outgoing, and inter-office calls to their appropriate destination.  Greets and screens all visitors before allowing them to proceed throughout the hospital.  Acts as an information center to all visitors.  The receptionist provides clerical support for hospital personnel. JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Answers and responds to incoming telephone calls promptly and in a pleasant, courteous, and clear manner.
  • Carefully screen calls before transferring them to the units and always requests patient’s confidentiality number before transferring.
  • Uses pages appropriately over the intercom system, speaking clearly and in a moderate tone; limits pages to emergencies, caller requests, or authorized announcements.
  • Screens all visitors before allowing them to proceed past the hospital lobby, making sure all visitors check in and out.
  • Supports the hospital’s safety and security programs and complies with policies and procedures.
  • Remains calm and efficient in crisis situations.
  • Works closely with the Intake department and follows procedures when prospective patients arrive.
  • Keeps the hospital lobby areas clean and tidy at all times.
  • Signs for and receives incoming deliveries and notifying the receiver.
  • Greets and responds to applicants for employment and notifies them of how to apply online.
  • Reads the communication log daily for new and recent communication.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 

This position requires knowledge of high school level reading, writing, and arithmetic, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Experience operating a multi-line switchboard preferred.
  • Must be older than 21 years of age
