Job Description

Seeking a talented Welding Engineer to develop welding techniques, procedures, and equipment applications for metal fabrication with a leading manufacturer known for more than 60 years of excellence, growth, and an outstanding culture.

Responsibilities include:

• Provide process support and troubleshooting. Investigate and document welding defects to determine the appropriate cause and potential corrective measures.
• Develop welding procedures that effectively utilize new welding technology.
• Design welding projects and communicate specific equipment and component requirements. Troubleshoot welding problems and provide guidance for product material selection.
• Enhance production capabilities, optimize welding processes, and drive weld improvements.
• Evaluate workflow and production processes and make recommendations for improvement. Create and update manufacturing work instructions, equipment manuals, and technical specifications.
• Analyze production processes, schedules, methods, and other data and provide management with actionable reports to facilitate understanding of future manufacturing process requirements. Ensure that the company’s manufacturing processes align with equipment requirements and limitations.
• Provide flexible program offerings across multiple machines. Ensure traceability and repeatability through programs and ERP communications and troubleshoot program challenges to reduce product inconsistencies.
• Develop fixtures for program applications and manage fixture assets and instructions for successful and efficient selection and use.
• Problem solve and communicate effectively with work team and contribute ideas for continuous improvement of workflow and processes.
• Follow all safety guidelines and procedures and perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Weld Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering required. CWI strongly preferred.
• Welding experience with sheet metal, weldments, and large assemblies and use of computer-aided design (CAD) software to create drawings for welding projects a must.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and familiarity with ISO 9000. Knowledge of equipment for purchase, installation, and repair.
• Advanced MS Office and ERP system use with strong analytical skills to properly interpret data.
• Good communicator, able to effectively explain technical concepts to broad audiences
• Proven interpersonal skills, capable of leading and teaching a team, and positively influencing others.
• Critical thinker, and data driven problem solver who works well under pressure.
• Excellent organizational skills and commercial awareness to understand broader business objectives while being hands-on and detail oriented as needed.
• Go-to GEMBA and 6S bias.
• Proven leadership with a strong sense of urgency, high energy, and ability to deflate conflict and manage morale when direction and priorities change.
