Job Description

ATSS Engineering has a client in Birmingham, AL looking for an Advanced Applications Engineer.

Pay $75k to $110k based on experience.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Review plans and specifications to generate proposals.
2. Read and understand wiring and P&I diagrams.
3. Understand and apply knowledge of how instrumentation is used in a process.
4. Understand how PLC’s are used to control industrial equipment.
5. Understand network communications and be able to troubleshoot issues that affect industrial PLC’s.
6. Prepare submittals per the customer/spec requirements.
7. Perform design calculations and prepare equipment or parts selection.
8. Analyze boiler system parameters to design for system optimization and/or requirements.
9. Generate specifications for equipment selected.
10. Generate proposals for outside sales review prior to going to the customer.
11. Place orders with vendors on equipment sold with assistance from the Engineering group.
12. Generate designs using CAD
13. Assignments require the investigation of a number of variables and supervisory assistance is provided on unusual problems.
14. Answer technical questions from either the salesmen or anyone else within the company or outside.
15. Perform training presentations using PowerPoint on various topics related to products and systems.
16. Assist in troubleshoot service issues in the field.
17. Be able to communicate on any level the technical aspects of the equipment being sold or worked on.
18. Works closely with Sales, Parts, Service and Billing in total project assistance from quoting to invoicing as required.
19. Reasonable, reliable attendance.
20. Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications and Education Requirements
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
2. Electrical Wiring Diagram, Controls and Networking Experience
3. Pumps and piping systems experience
4. Minimum 3-5 years of experience.
5. MicroStation/CAD experience.


PREFERRED SKILLS
1. Technical knowledge of hydronic systems (design, engineering, etc.)
2. Technical knowledge of boiler systems (design, engineering, etc.)
3. Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office
4. Ability to maneuver through different computer software programs
5. Must possess a strong desire to learn
6. Ability to travel as required (<20%)
7. Knowledge of CRM software


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF JOB
1. Occasionally required to stand or walk; sit at a desk up to 8 hours a day.
2. Ability to work in a controlled climate (68-72 degrees).
3. Occasionally required to lift or move up to 25 pounds.
4. Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
5. Reach with hands and arms; balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell.
6. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision,
peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.


ADDITIONAL NOTES
1. Travel for training may be required.
2. This job operates in a professional office environment.
3. The job schedule is Monday thru Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

5. Conform with all safety rules.
6. Safety training is required for all positions.
