Job Description

Sigma Defense is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Cybersecurity Intern to join our IT Security team. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in cybersecurity practices and contribute to protecting our organization's digital assets.

The idea candidate is currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, with a strong interest in cybersecurity. The candidate should have a basic understanding of security principles and a desire to learn and grow in a dynamic environment.

Requirements

  • It is preferred the candidate has relevant coursework or completed projects.

Computer Programs/Software Experience:

  • Familiarity with security tools such as Wireshark, Nmap, Metasploit, and Kali Linux, and basic programming skills and languages.

Mandatory Certifications:

  • CompTIA Security+

Education Requirements:

  • Some college coursework from an accredited college or university in Cybersecurity or Information Technology.

Candidate Differentiators:

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Essential Job Duties (not all-inclusive) :

  • Monitor security systems and analyze alerts to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Assist in incident response and investigations to determine root causes and mitigate risks.
  • Support vulnerability assessments, risk analysis, and the implementation of security controls.
  • Participate in developing and implementing security policies and procedures in alignment with the Risk Management Framework (RMF).
  • Contribute to the assessment and authorization process for systems, ensuring compliance with RMF standards.
  • Assist in the preparation of security documentation and reports for continuous monitoring.
  • Collaborate with the IT team to enhance security posture and ensure effective risk management practices.
