We seek a qualified and dedicated medical billing specialist to join our administrative office. In this position, you will be responsible for various tasks requiring data analysis, in-depth evaluation, and sound judgment. As our medical biller, your daily duties will include maintaining billing software, appealing denied claims, and recording late payments.

You must possess in-depth knowledge of billing software and medical insurance policies to succeed in this role. The ideal candidate must also demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, as communicating with clients and various insurance agents will form a large part of the job.

Medical Biller Responsibilities:

  • Prepared and submitted billing data and medical claims to insurance companies.
  • Submit claims/billing data to insurance companies, ensuring each claim is accurate and complete for prompt payment
  • Follow up on unpaid claims and disputed claims.
  • Experience with managing and submitting trauma/accident attorney cases. 
  • Follow up on outstanding claims (AR) 
  • Ensured the accuracy and timeliness of patient balances 
  • Manage, collect, and post payments; send statements, payment arrangements, and collections. 
  • Check each insurance payment for accuracy and compliance with contract discount.
  • Investigating and appealing denied claims and unpaid claims.
  • Communicate with insurance companies regarding any discrepancies in payments if necessary.
  • Having an in-depth understanding of billing software, electronic medical records, and medical codes.
  • Identify and bill secondary or tertiary insurances
  • Respond to inquiries from insurance companies, patients, and providers
  • Perform various collection actions, including contacting patients by phone, correcting and resubmitting claims to third-party payers
  • Process patient statements, answer patient inquiries on account status and charges, and resolve issues as necessary
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to health insurance portability and accountability act standards
  • Keep informed of changes in billing regulations and procedures for all third-party payers
  • Ensuring the patient’s medical information is accurate and up to date
  • Monitoring and recording late payments.
  • Following up on missed payments and resolving financial discrepancies.
  • Examining patient bills for accuracy and requesting any missing information.
  • Maintained billing software by updating rate changes, cash spreadsheets, and collection reports.


Medical Biller Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, health care administration, accounting, or a relevant field.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a medical biller or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of medical billing codes and regulations, including ICD-10 and CPT codes
  • Solid understanding of billing software and electronic medical records.
  • Must have the ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Outstanding problem-solving and organizational abilities
