The Orthopedic Surgery position is for a hospital employed position. The way we work hospital-owned physician practices is to treat them as if the MD is the owner. We negotiate a salary based upon MGMA figures (usually between mean and 75th percentile), which is paid to the physician monthly. At the end of the year, the physician receives 100% of the profits of the practice as he would if he owned the practice. We do not charge a fee for running the practices. As far as we know, we are the only hospital that operates this way. They also receive full benefits including paid malpractice, family health insurance, relocation, CME allowance.
