Purpose of the Role
The Product Owner (PO) will define and own end-to-end product definition and delivery within a business domain, ensuring alignment with business goals, domain regulations, quality, and cost-effectiveness. The role requires driving business decisions and optimizing solutions for scalability, adaptability, and compliance with the organization's business and technology roadmaps.
Ideal Candidate Profile / Experience & Background:
- At least 3-4 years of experience as a product owner on multiple agile projects
- Experience in the healthcare payer industry in a business analyst, consultant, program manager, or advisor role
- Understanding of one or more process areas of healthcare payer value chain, including enrollment, claims, provider, medical management, etc. and general familiarity with payer domain concepts
- Experience in federally facilitated or state public health exchange projects
- Ability to translate use cases and high-level business requirements into epics, features, and user stories or product backlog items (PBIs)
- Ability to understand high-level solution design/architectural diagrams, and identify any gaps in requirements
- Ability to prioritize features based on critical path deliverables, and categorize backlog items for development and go-live
- Ability to plans self-drive work deliverables while collaborating with others as needed, including engineering, architecture, business, program and product managers, and other teams
- Ability to lead or actively contribute to solution discussions, risk assessments, and prioritization
Core Product Owner Responsibilities
- Elicit and document detailed requirements from business and IT stakeholders attain signoffs from business stakeholders
- Translate business requirements into epics and features, to include clear business value proposition, acceptance criteria, scope, and interdependence
- Help identify and address non-functional requirements (NFRs) such as performance, security, usability, and maintainability.
- Work with impacted product teams to identify interdependence
- Draw future state workflow and process maps to show key steps and activities, personas, and systems
- Assist testing team in understanding the business background, the solution objectives, and the design of functional, end-to-end, and UAT testing
- Manage a scrum team and ensure work is well defined, continuously tracked and delivered across all sprints throughout the PI
- Identify risks and dependencies with other tracks and ensure roadblocks are documented and addressed in a timely manner
- Collaborate across program with product, program, and engineering teams to refine and plan features and PBIs and bring them to DOR (Definition of Ready) status
- Work with the program manager to support the epic initiative and ensure all epics are well documented with clear deliverables and outcomes
- Work with project, engineering, and program teams to develop product release plan
- Serve as product ambassador to educate impacts teams across enterprise
- Ensure future state solution are efficient and scalable
- Help establish a clear go-live strategy for solution deployment
