Job Description
Overview Quality Analysts are responsible for conducting a wide range of quality testing to ensure software meets or exceeds standards and end-user requirements. This includes interpreting software design specifications and interactions with project managers, and other members of the testing and development organizations.
Job Duties - Develops and maintains test cases; creates reusable test templates, creates test data, conducts peer reviews, participates in test automation, and analyzes and thoroughly documents defects detected during test execution
- Collects and reports test results through various metric reporting tools and communicates to stakeholders on a regular basis
- Interacts on a regular basis with Business Analysts and development teams to ensure an understanding of business requirements, technical design, and to assist with defect resolution
- Facilitates User Acceptance Testing Process; documents all test results and user feedback
- Collaborates with the project team to generate and define new ideas; participates in requirements definition process
- Reviews application requirements and understands the design specifications
- Creates a test strategy for utilization of outlining testing scope, providing level of efforts, estimates, timing and resource requirements; proposes appropriate and creative solutions to quality assurance testing challenges
- Creates test plans and cases; executes to properly test functionality
- Ensures traceability of test cases back to project requirements
- Identifies and creates data for corresponding test scenarios to assure requirements have been met
- Tracks test execution progress and communicates to project team
- Creates problem reports and communicates deficiencies to Project Lead and developers
- Partners with team members to assure defects are identified, tracked, and remedied effectively
- Designs, develops, and maintains quality assurance documentation through all phases of the project(s)
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements - Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related field (Required)
- 3 years experience in a quality analyst role
- 6 months prior manual and integration testing experience
- Knowledge of database and programming concepts
- Excellent multitasking, communication, and time-management skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Knowledge of technology development methodologies, testing processes, technical relationships, data security, and compliance standards (e.g. Sarbanes-Oxley)
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft SQL with the ability to create queries without the need of a GUI
- Advanced computer proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Excel
