The Senior Analyst for The Center on Education and the Workforce, McCourt School of Public Policy, Georgetown University will perform as a senior project lead and will be responsible for leading 2-3 project teams at any given time. S/he will also interact with the center's director and other senior staff to develop and implement our annual work plan, strategy, and ongoing fundraising efforts. The position is 100% grant funded and will also be expected to interact with our external audiences (e.g. keynote speeches, technical working groups) and work with national and local media. The Senior Analyst will function as an economist, data analyst, and policy specialist (focused on evaluation and workforce policy). Working as a part of the Center's executive planning team, additional duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Work collaboratively with other senior staff and the Director to develop the annual work plan as well as overall strategic planning.
  • Engage with and manage the direct integration between the core research, writing/editorial, and communications functions on their projects.
  • Conduct robust economic analyses on salient education and labor market issues, including, but is not limited to, conducting landscape analyses of current policy and literature, as well as current events to base the development of research projects from conceptualization to press rollout.
  • Organize all aspects of the research projects.
  • Manage a team of data scientists, analysts, and writer editors while collaborating with other senior staff to ensure the projects are of the highest quality.
  • Report design and implementation, designating and managing report teams.
  • Support strategic planning of the center and fundraising efforts.
  • Collaborate with other senior staff in support of other projects.




Work Interactions


The position will report directly to the Director of the Center and will be part of the Center's senior leadership team. The position is expected to operate in a highly collaborative and integrated environment where cross function activity (research, writing/editing, and communications) work together with writers participating in initial research design and researchers informing graphic design. The Senior Analyst will be leading up to three project teams and supervising supporting data scientists, analysts, and an embedded writer. The Senior Analyst will coordinate project activities with the Director of Editorial and Director of Communications to ensure that the project/report moves seamlessly from research to final report.



Requirements and Qualifications

  • A minimum of an Master of Arts in Public Policy
  • Minimum of 6 year's experience
  • Expert programming skills, demonstrated project management skills, clear and strong writing experience
  • A successful hire is required to have expert applied knowledge of at least one of SAS or STATA and must have extensive working experience with:
    • CPS
    • SIPP
    • ACS
    • IPEDS
    • NLS09
    • ELS02
    • BARRONS
  • Preferred: Evaluation and policy research experience.

Pay Range:


The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$66,783.00 - $126,720.23


Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
