Description:
Waypoint’s client is seeking a Software Developer to join the Telemetry Processing and Apps (TPA) Development Team supporting the Payload Operations Integration Center (POIC) and the International Space Station (ISS), Space Launch System (SLS), and Artemis Moon to Mars missions. This role is based at the Huntsville Operations Support Center (HOSC) and involves ground system development for NASA’s upcoming space missions. The TPA team handles critical data processing, storage, retrieval, and user experience management for mission ground systems. With modernization plans to migrate systems to Kubernetes containers via the HOSC OpenShift cluster.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain software systems that support data processing and telemetry for ISS, SLS, Artemis missions, and other NASA projects.
  • Assist with the migration of TPA systems to Kubernetes containers as part of the HOSC OpenShift cluster modernization efforts.
  • Ensure high-performance and availability of ground support systems used for mission-critical flight operations.
  • Work on both Linux and Windows VMware implementations to support NASA’s evolving mission demands.
  • Engage in DevSecOps development practices to improve automation, security, and scalability.
  • Participate in design discussions, contributing to the overall system architecture while working closely with other engineers and mission specialists.
  • Capture, develop, and present technical information to ensure alignment with stakeholders and mission requirements.
  • Implement and manage unit testing and automated testing for software reliability and performance.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant software development experience.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Angular, ReactJS, C#, JavaScript, and other relevant programming languages.
  • Experience with .NET Core and GitLab.
  • Familiarity with both Windows and Linux environments, especially for web-based development.
  • Experience working with relational databases such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, or equivalent databases.
  • Strong understanding of network programming and experience with large distributed systems.
  • Knowledge of unit testing and automated testing practices.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and familiarity with container-based architectures such as Kubernetes.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant engineering or computer science field from an ABET-accredited institution.
Desired:
  • Experience with functional programming languages.
  • Prior experience with high-performance databases and distributed systems.
  • Experience in ground system development for aerospace or mission-critical environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze complex systems.
  • Experience working within DevSecOps pipelines and developing within a Kubernetes or OpenShift environment.
