Diesel Mechanic (Northlake, IL)

*** (THIS IS AN ON-SITE POSITION) ***

***Salary range $22.00 to $40.00 per hour depending on experience***

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform preventative maintenance on all heavy machinery including diesel engines, tractors, trailers, and other equipment in an expedited manner
  • Repair and maintain tractors through preventative and proactive assessments
  • Perform basic troubleshooting with electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Repairs to equipment from minor accidents
  • Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, checking batteries, and lubricating all equipment
  • Complete all required paperwork and documentation on all repairs
  • Follow all shop safety protocols and follow instructions
  • Work independently however communicate when assistance is required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 18 years of age
  • 1 year of forklift maintenance and/or training and educational equivalent
  • Prior Mechanic experience required
  • ASE certification is preferred but not required
  • Owns a basic set of tools
  • Willingness to work outdoors or in the elements
  • Ability to effectively communicate
  • Read documentation and communicate in English
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask
  • Ability to lift or move up to 50 lbs.
